Ever since Crytek’s Ceo Cevat Yerli mentioned that there was little hope of a new Timesplitters game people all over have been voicing their discontent. They disagree with his statement that there isn’t a market for the game anymore and he couldn’t justify developing it. 100K Strong For Timesplitters 4 are out to prove him wrong. They have set up a Facebook page to try get 100 thousand likes in favour of the game. They aim to show Crytek that there is huge support for the game out there and people really want this to happen. I caught up with Daniel Wesoly, admin on the Facebook page and asked him some questions. Here’s the full interview:

Q: Why did you start this page?

Daniel: “ I am one of three admins on the page. I was invited to the group nearthe beginning of the campaign and accepted as an admin. But all of us at 100k strong for Timesplitters 4 always wanted a huge community of Timesplitters fans to show support for a new game! and with Crytek keeping a close eye on the group, this could be do-able.”

Q: What kind of feedback have you been getting from fans?

Daniel: “Mostly telling us of places to get in contact with such as Yogscast
and big gaming sites such as Gamespot. The news is out there and i am
pretty sure these sites must know about the cause by now, it’s just up
to them if they want to support it or not. The feedback have all been
very positive.”

Q: Any negative comments?

Daniel: “We have had one or two asking why we would want Crytek to make a new
game, and that they would destroy the series. But this is not true,
Crytek UK are made up of 70% of the Free Radical that got shut down.”

Q: Do you think there is a market for this game now?

Daniel: “ From what i have seen, yes. Many people comment saying how they are
sick of todays generic military shooters. So i think it would do well,
but it is obviously a scary thing for developers to try something new
in an industry that is filled with generic stuff that still sales
well.”

Q: Have you contacted Crytek about your page or if not do you intend to?

Daniel: “As i have said in previous answers, Crytek is backing this page and
will be helping out in whatever way they can. But remember, they are
busy guys and they are currently working on Crysis 3. So don’t expect
them to be active often.”

Q: Crytek boss pretty much dashed any hopes of a new Timesplitters game
recently. Do you think campaigns like this will really change their minds?

Daniel: “Cevat Yerli has put up on his twitter asking for Timesplitters fans to
tweet him about a new game, to see how big the fan base is. We are
doing the same thing but in a bigger way, at the end of the campaign,
hopefully Cevat will see how big we truly are.”

Q: He also said the company doesn’t wish to go down the fan funding route to release their game as it would be insulting of such a large company to rely on it. Do you think he is right or would fans support this?

Daniel: “ As much as i would love to start a Kickstarter, Cevat is right. It’d
be hard for them to start a Kickstarter without getting flak from the
public. It’d look bad for a multi million company to ask fans to fund
their game. But if Crytek wanted to do it, i would still pledge money.”

Q: Crytek took over the old devs of Timesplitters. Would you be worried the game might not be good enough if it was released if too many changes were
made by Crytek?

Daniel: “Crytek UK are made up of mostly old free radical staff. It is very
possible that the game could live up to the previous titles. So i have
no real worries there.”

Q: Would you settle for a HD collection of the first 3 games or is your
ultimate and only goal a Timesplitters 4 game?

Daniel: “HD collection would be awesome! but in my head, a Timesplitters 4
would be the best thing that could happen. But yes, i would settle for
a HD remake. It would probably show Crytek how well the game would
sell too.”

Q: What would you recommend fans of the game do to help out?

Daniel: “Contact all big gaming sites about this cause, go to big YouTube
names, spread it to friends on Facebook and twitter. Retweet and share
status updates, put up posters, contact Cevat’s twitter and carry on
liking the page!”

Q: Just to end here are some quick fire questions. Favourite game:

Daniel: “God of War series or perhaps Half Life series

Q: Favourite Timesplitters game?

Daniel: “Timesplitters 2, was simply something magical about it.”

Q: Favourite Timesplitters character?

Daniel: “Frank Nova”

Q: Your favourite Timesplitters moment?

Daniel: “Cortez being kicked in the crown jewels by Jo-Beth Casey!”

Q: Least favourite game?

Daniel: “Call of Duty haha”

If you’re a Timesplitters fan you can see there is some good news. Cryek have shown their support that if there is enough talk about the game and people showing their support it is always a possibility. Even Cevat Yerli is tweeting to see if the interest is there. For all you people who think this is a worthy cause head on over to 100K Strong For Timesplitters 4 and throw them a like. Maybe, just maybe we will be seeing a new Timesplitters in the future if this all works out.
