For years Final Fantasy fans have been shouting for a remake of their beloved Final Fantasy 7. For years they have been left disappointed with fake gameplay footage popping up getting hopes high only for them to be destroyed by Square Enix saying that it’s not going to happen. Now fans have been given a slight glimmer of hope as Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada announced that they will remake the game once the company creates a new Final Fantasy game that succeeds FF7. The game would have to succeed the seventh game in terms of quality and sales which Square Enix has not managed with a Final Fantasy game in a long time.

He also stated in a Q&A session of the company’s annual shareholder’s briefing that if a remake were to be released now the series would be done for. He also says that the staff assigned to the project would have to be fully committed to it and devote a lot of time and resources into the remake.

Final fantasy 7 is one of the best-selling games of all time boasting an impressive 10 million sales worldwide. The game is currently available as a download from the PSN store for €9.99. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like we will be seeing a remake anytime soon.
