There come’s a time in a developers office when a change is needed. Desks get moved around and boxes get dusted. Have you ever wondered whats in those boxes? I was doing this very thing (moving around and having a re-jig ) and I came across one very special box called don’t print. Well inside the VSB (very special box) was games that never made it. Sad really some of them look pretty good even by todays standards.
There are 2 game in particular that are worth a shot. The first being The getaway. Yes see your eye’s are lighting up. The other being Eight days. Back in 2006 both games where set for release on PS3 . Developers SCE London Studio (Sony) and London soho called time on them. Mainly due to the lack of multi-player so Sony put all fund somewhere else. Now travel forward a few years to 2009 and Sony said the games are not shelved just put aside for a few years. I might be jumping the gun a bit but it is 2012 now so are Sony going to start it up again? Well no they wont.
Simply they have too many PS3 titles that are off this genre and have better multiplayer. Remember this being why Sony stopped working on them.
Can anything be done to get the ball rolling on them, Well sorry to say it but no. It was thought of for a short time about selling the rights but the idea never left the board room. Sony could be sitting on gold here, surely all they need is some new blood to revamp the online/multiplayer .
