For the past few years we can probably all agree, we have not been able to cope with the amount of drivel that the developing world has been churning out. First came the awful follow-up to the already awful ‘Dead Rising‘ then the disappointing follow-up to the absolutely brilliant ‘Arkham Asylum’.
For some reason, the game developers of the world can never realize that sometimes enough is enough and that one game is all that is needed.
Number 4: Resident Evil 4
We really do have to begin with ‘Resident Evil 4‘, this game was fantastic and interesting in its own right and was done a terrible injustice with the next game in the series, the absolutely bloody awful ‘Resident Evil 5′.
‘Resident evil 4‘ had a very immersive storyline and exceptionally well-presented game-play system, from the discovery of items and how the characters interacted with the player down to the murder and anarchy that ensued around you as you played, the last thing it needed was the so-called ‘sequel’ Resident Evil 5.

Resident Evil 5 had one of the worst storyline plots one has ever heard, the game-play was reminiscent of going go-karting while trying to send a message on an old brick Nokia phone. All this makes the game awful, but the thing that really bugs is this, the co-operative system and AI partner system. When a player takes over the control of your partner, some things actually get done and SOMETIMES things go well, however when you allow the so-called ‘AI’ to control her, forget ever seeing the end of the game. She will make you die so many times, screw you over so many times and get in your way so many times, you will just want to shoot her in the head and finish it all there. This game is a prime example of why ‘Developers’ should not be allowed to make their own decisions. Cue Resident Evil 6…Oh dear.
Number 3: Dead Rising
A lot of people wanted to like this game and if we didn’t spend SO much money on it then we might have actually been able to stand it but for those of us who purchased it when it firstcame out and paid 40 quid for the piece of garbage, this game was clunky, awkward and really badly made. It had a few good points, what couldn’t be fun about smashing a zombies head with a toy ‘laser sword’, but this does not make up for all the transgressions it commits on the way.

The storyline is weak, the character design is, at best, awful and the game is just clumsy. Then they made a sequel! Why I hear you ask,?We have no idea, but we are guessing that it’s because almost all developers alive today have bloody railroad spikes driven through their frontal lobe which ultimately stops them from clear thinking and again they have decided Dead Rising 2 has been given DLC and more utter nonsense for an already awful game. Will they ever learn?
Number 2: Call Of Duty Modern Warfare
This is one of the best shooters out there, the story is fantastic and gripping, the character design was beautifully done, all this with a score and game-play system to die for.

After the success of number one, Infinity Ward and Activision decided that a sequel was needed. Well this time it was to take an idea that already worked, then fill it with a list of a-list names and an even more beautiful game-play system, but the story and characters suffered because of this.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was, at best, a cash-in of an idea that already worked.
We really need to make a stand against these people…it will never happen though, will it?
Number 1: Arkham Asylum
Arkham Asylum was by no means an original story idea, it basically took the plot of almost every Batman graphic novel that contains the joker and pasted it onto blue-ray and DVD respectively so that we (the real Batman fans) could enjoy, love and endure the game for its merits and flaws.
The pace and layout of Arkham Asylum is pretty straight and very well executed, the plot and villains are introduced, the twists and turns happen and then we are exposed to (one of the best) endings in gaming history. We can probably all agree that the game has done all it has set out to do and more, what with the add-on packs and addition of the challenge maps and Riddler challenges contained with-in.
Rocksteady became aware that we loved Arkham Asylum, and they went away and made the game even bigger, this was a mistake.
Just because something is bigger does not make it better by any means. Look at tumors, when one of those gets bigger, it sure as hell isn’t a good thing, so why do we think that this isn’t the case with games and that, the bigger the game, the better the experience?
Bethesda do BIG very well, leave it to them to create open-world, go anywhere and do anything games. Rocksteady should stick to the good ol’ fashioned platform, puzzle and action game genres they do so well.

Good list. I’d have to disagree with Arkham Asylum though, I absolutly loved Arkham City to bits. Simply one of the best games I have ever played.
I agree but I felt (as a Batman fan) they could have done more with the material and budget they were given, the game stands alone as probably the best superhero game I have ever played but I still felt there was something missing, something important.
Each man to his own opinion I guess.
I agree 100% with this list i just hope Black ops 2 is as good as or better then the first unlike MW2 to MW
I loved Modern Warfare 1 and Black ops was okay but I hope to all the divinities that BLOPS 2 is half as good as Modern Warfare 1 in comparison to the second.
